I am a machine learning researcher working on model-based reinforcement learning. Instead of just reacting to their environment, systems built with this approach learn a model of the world around them and then use that model to imagine, evaluate, and choose between possible futures.

Most of my time is spent on learned planning: figuring out how a system can learn to search efficiently through the many futures its world-model lets it imagine.

Besides my research, I like to think deeply about philosophy, history and culture and spend considerable time playing baseball and the violin. I also invest 100k-1M in novel technologies for schillingcap.

Feel free to reach out if you are interested in any of my pursuits. I try to answer all emails I get.
